To recognize individuals who have achieved notable successes in the field of engineering, the official ceremony of the newly introduced "Engineers Award 2026", organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, was graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and held on the night of Thursday, 10 September 2026, at Barceló Nasandhura. At this ceremony where awards were conferred in a total of 10 categories, the most prestigious "Engineer of the Year Award" and the "Engineering Innovation, Technology, Education and Research Award" were won by Dr. Furqan Ibrahim, while the "Lifetime Achievement Award" was conferred on Abdul Shakoor Solih, as well as in memory of the late Ahmed Mahureen and Mohamed Rasheed. Additionally, the "Young Engineer Award" was won by Mohamed Zidan Hassan, the "Women in Engineering Award" by Asrar, and the "Student Innovator Award" was achieved by Hussain Jaushan.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has graced the newly introduced "Engineers Award 2026" ceremony, established by the Maldivian government to recognize the value of engineers who have served and are currently working towards the development of the Maldives and the engineering sector. At this historic ceremony held at Barceló Nasandhura, awards were presented across 10 categories, with the most prestigious award, "Engineer of the Year," being achieved by Dr. Furqan Ibrahim of MWSC. In addition, Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to three individuals who rendered valuable services to the field over a long period, including Abdul Shakoor Solih, as well as in memory of the late Ahmed Mahureen and the late Mohamed Rasheed. This is the first award ceremony initiated and held by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development with the objective of advancing the engineering sector in the Maldives and attracting youth and women to this field.
