Highlighting the importance of raising parental awareness regarding childhood cancer and early detection, the First Lady requested full cooperation for healthcare professionals. In line with the World Health Organization's childhood cancer targets, and to enhance treatment and awareness for the disease in the Maldives, the Cancer Society of Maldives and Male' City Group of Hospitals are scheduled to hold the "Caring Beyond the Cure: Mental Health in Childhood Cancer" workshop at Dharumavantha Hospital.
On September 17, 2026, important efforts were carried out to raise awareness among parents regarding childhood cancers and their symptoms. The main objective of these activities was to encourage parents to easily identify the early symptoms of cancer in children and seek medical treatment without delay. Additionally, since the chances of successful treatment increase if cancer is detected early, information on the special attention that must be given to children's health and measures that can be taken for prevention was shared with parents.
On September 17, 2026, the First Lady of the Maldives called for full cooperation to be extended to healthcare workers in order to strengthen the nation's health system and elevate the quality of services provided to the public. She noted that the hard work done by doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to ensure the well-being of citizens consists of valuable efforts that deserve the support and respect of the entire community. In addition, she reminded that the participation of all members of society is essential in establishing a safe and conducive working environment for healthcare providers.
