A branch of the National Centre for the Holy Quran was officially opened in HA. Uligan on 6 October 2026 by Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Usthadh Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed and the President of the Island Council, Asadullah Mohamed. Opened under the national project to establish Quran Centre branches in every inhabited island, this branch will further facilitate opportunities for Quranic education in Uligan.
Under the special project initiated by the government to establish branches of the National Centre for the Holy Quran across all islands of the Maldives, a branch of the centre was officially opened in HA. Uligamu on Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Senior officials of the National Centre for the Holy Quran and members of the Uligamu Council participated in the ceremony. The primary purpose of opening this branch is to expand opportunities for learning and teaching the Holy Quran at the island level and facilitate the dissemination of Quranic knowledge.
