Ultrasound scan services have commenced at health centers in 17 islands across the Maldives. Under this project, modern ultrasound scan machines required by the health centers of those islands have been provided, and necessary arrangements for rendering the service have been completed. The primary objective of introducing this service is to further strengthen the healthcare system in the atolls, reduce travel that residents must undertake to other islands or Male' to obtain routine scans, and facilitate convenient access to the service on their home islands. With this change, health centers on those islands will gain a major advancement in diagnosing patients' conditions early and initiating appropriate treatment promptly.
