As of today, December 31, 2025, the arrangement to obtain glasses from private clinics and optical shops under the Aasandha scheme has been expanded. With this change, the general public will have more ease in obtaining eye care and glasses, and the government's aim is to make health services easily accessible to all citizens. Under this new rule, the opportunity to get glasses made at various private centers registered with Aasandha, in accordance with the prescribed rules, is now open.

The Ministry of Health today introduced new digital software systems with the aim of strengthening and modernizing the services of health centers in the Maldives. Officially inaugurated on 31 December 2025, this system is designed to improve the quality of services provided by health centers and to establish a system for easy management of patient information. The Ministry informs that this new software will speed up the exchange of information between the health centers of the islands and the main hospitals, and will provide a major solution to the administrative difficulties encountered in providing treatment. This project is an important step being taken by the government as part of its efforts to digitalize the entire health system of the Maldives.
