With the official opening of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport, all operations of Aeroflot, the national airline of Russia, have been moved to the terminal starting December 28, 2025. With this change, passengers traveling with Aeroflot will now be able to easily check in and receive immigration services with modern facilities at the new terminal. As part of this project to expand and improve the quality of airport services, Aeroflot is one of the important airlines to start providing services from the new terminal. It is believed that this change will reduce the time spent at the airport for tourists visiting the Maldives from Russia, and further improve the quality of service.

State Electric Company (STELCO) has today advised the public to be vigilant as power services may be interrupted in some areas of Hulhumalé. The company informs that the power outage on Sunday, December 28, 2025, is due to important works that need to be done to upgrade the Hulhumalé electricity grid. STELCO has apologized for any inconvenience to the public during the work and stated that they are working to complete the work as soon as possible and restore services.

"Girls to Code" program, conducted in Malé by Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives, successfully concluded on 28 December 2025.
