The Maldivian government stated on Saturday, December 27th, that Saudi's initiative is an important step towards regional stability, and that the Maldives will remain committed to all efforts to find a political solution to the Yemen issue. In addition, the statement noted that the Maldives recognizes the leading role played by Saudi Arabia in maintaining the unity and security of the Islamic Ummah.
