Today, Saturday, 27 December 2025, the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a White Alert for the southernmost atolls of the Maldives. This alert was issued sometime this afternoon, and it is forecasted that these areas will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms. In addition, as winds are expected to gust up to 40 miles per hour, relevant authorities have advised seafarers to be mindful of the weather. According to the Met Office's statistics, this weather change is due to the current rainfall affecting the southern atolls of the Maldives.
