A special groundbreaking ceremony for "Jamee-ul Sultan Mohamed bin Abdullah", the largest mosque to be built in the Maldives to date, was held on 13 September 2026 in Hulhumalé Phase 2. The foundation stone of this mosque was laid by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, CEO of Saudi Arabia's Al Rajhi Company Bandar Abdullah Al Rajhi, and the Saudi Ambassador to the Maldives Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani. State ministers and senior government officials attended the ceremony, and this is a massive project designed with a spacious capacity to accommodate approximately 10,000 worshippers at a time.

In connection with the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the Maldives embracing Islam, the "National Conference of Young Khateebs 2026" organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf was successfully held at the Islamic Centre in Malé on 13 September 2026. The main objective of this symposium, attended by more than 300 trained young khateebs from across the Maldives, was to encourage young khateebs, exchange experiences and foster ties among them, and strengthen the role of youth in expanding Islamic dawah. The one-day conference, inaugurated by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, was concluded at a ceremony graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. It was highlighted during the symposium that over 700 youth have been trained so far under this project launched by the government to build capable young khateebs.

To prevent such acts, the importance of strengthening the mosque maintenance system beyond its current state and designating a party to take direct responsibility was also highlighted.

Ahmed Manik, who rendered valuable services to the state for a long time, passed away on Sunday, 13 September 2026. He was an individual who remained dedicated to national service with sincerity across various sectors of the state for many years. Following his passing, deep sorrow has been felt across national service sectors and by his family, while his contributions are recognized and valued at the state level. Prayers are offered asking Almighty Allah to grant His mercy to his soul and bestow upon him the high blessings of Paradise.

Dhidhdhoo Council has urged that children should not go out onto the streets alone at night and should not be outside unless under parental supervision in Ha. Dhidhdhoo. The council made this appeal with the aim of ensuring the safety and protection of children, as well as encouraging their safeguarding against potential dangers that may arise from children being outside during late hours. In this regard, the council has requested parents to pay special attention to this matter and take responsible measures to maintain the safety of children.

In connection with the internationally celebrated Global Housekeeping Week, special activities were carried out in Omadhoo on Sunday, 13 September 2026, to mark the occasion.
